Q: When and where do you shoot?
Hours vary by season, due to available lighting. Year round there are two sessions available daily, Monday through Saturday.
Headshot sessions take place at my residence in West Los Angeles.
Editorial sessions are more often best performed on location. See our portfolio or inquire for details.
Q: What is included in my headshot package?
Every package includes 60 days of access to a Dropbox online proof gallery (available within 48 hours), as well as a limited number of high-resolution retouches and high-res 4×6 files optimized for casting websites, such as LA Casting.
RAW and/or additional high-res JPG files of your session are NOT available.
Q: How long does a headshot session last?
This can be a difficult question to answer because it is often dependent upon whether you are male or female, how many looks we shoot, and whether or not you need to do anything drastic to your look during your session (eg: hair, make-up, shaving, etc.). I work quickly, but plan to spend between 2 and 3 hours. I am flexible and take care to make your session my greatest concern. I do not place a time restriction on your session and will not rush you in any way. If you have concerns regarding time, please let me know when you book your session or a few days before so that I can make every effort to properly accommodate you.
Q: How can I prepare for our session?
Pack multiple tops in different styles and without designs or logos in a variety of colors – I recommend a few t-shirts, a tank top and over shirt, and a layering jacket or sport coat with a tie. Don’t forget a comfortable and sturdy pair of jeans, and whatever shoes make you most comfortable! I provide hangers and hanging space for your clothing choices, so avoid shoving them into a backpack, please!
Think about the type of marketing looks you need. What are the current and popular sitcoms, film and television stars, and buzz words? Girl next door, hipster casual, best friend, sports fan, woman going out, happy hour guy, office casual, office nerd, and upscale professional, to name a few.
Most importantly: PLEASE be clean and showered, and show up with your hair washed and styled with additional product and styling tools if necessary. (eg. gel, hairbrush, curling iron, blow dryer, straightener, etc.) Arriving unprepared will delay and stunt the session, as well as create unnecessary tension and frustration. If you still have any questions or concerns, please review my portfolios for ideas and don’t hesitate to contact me prior to your session for a full wardrobe consultation.
Q: Do I need a hair and make-up artist?
I do highly recommend hiring a make-up artist, and I have one of the best! Andrea Harrison has been a professional make-up artist since 2001 and in addition to doing make-up for television and film, has worked New York Fashion week bi-annually since 2004. She can also do light hair and styling.
Q: When will my photos be ready?
You can expect your session to become available about 48 hours after your session. Your retouches will be available within 7 days of your request, except on Holidays or upon prior notice. I understand that as an actor, choosing a headshot photographer may be one of the biggest decisions of your career.
If I haven’t answered your questions here, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I look forward to hearing from you!
